In Grades 3-5, we learned a new rhythm game called "Poison Rhythm." Using our hand drums, we tested our memory skills by trying to remember a rhythm we referred to as the "Poison Rhythm." Everytime I played a pattern on my hand drum, the students echoed it on theirs. However, whenever I played the poison rhythm, the students had to freeze and not repeat that pattern. If they did repeat it, they would be out and their partner would take their spot. Eventually we added more and more poison rhythms, so by the end we had three rhythms we had to watch out for and not repeat.
In Grades K-2, we played a similar rhythm game to "Poison Rhythm," however, in this version, we did not add more than one rhythm at a time.
