In Grades 3-5, we have been working on singing rounds. At the end of this week, we will have learned and practiced two. We learned, "Alfred the Alligator," and "Ghost of John." We talked about what it means to sing and round and then tried it ourselves. We have also been practicing our sense of rhythm through a game called "Rhythm Relay."
In Grades K-2, we have been working on our skills for interpreting what certain pieces of music mean. Everyone got a sheet of paper and a writing utensil and then tried to draw or write words about what they thought about when they listened to a certain piece of music. At the end, I told them what we listened to so they could see how close they got to the real meaning behind the music. We also learned a Halloween song called "I'm a Little Pumpkin," and a Halloween game called, "Pass the Pumpkin."
